The Bible clearly tells us that "where there is no vision, the people perish." The New Testament is full of men and women that constantly casts vision. Just look at teh missionary efforts of the Apostle Paul. That man had vision and he communicated it time and time again.

To me God gifts visionaries and and if the vison they have is from God others will catch it also. Of course as I read Mark's post here there is something unspoken that I think could be missed in some of the other comments. Anyone that casts a vision will first have that vision blessed with the agreement of the church's leaders.

Ack! Over the years I've done all five! Well, except the emotionless presentation - I'm one who may get a little too fired up. Great blog post for the new year, really gets back to some basics.

Vision casting!?! Is this something like spell casting...except we tack on Jesus and suddenly it's all good? If it is a concept in the New Testament it is pretty obscure...at least the way this writer seems to describe it. It think it is just a 'trend' expression meant to conceal the idea that there is a particular person in the local congregation who is the visionary. This should only seem like a good idea to the person who gets to cast the vision. Everyone else should have misgivings about this..in fact be on red alert. Vison comes through the Spirit and anyone who has the Spirit has within them the potential to speak for God in a 'visionary' way.

Are you casting a vision of what God wants you to do or are are you thinking about how casting the vision will pay your bills, buy you a new vehicle, let you jet set around like a big CEO etc. ?

Great post. I've also seen vision casting for a new year without addressing what failed from the last vision casting session.
